St. Joseph's leadership structure is made up of the Pastor, the Council of Ministries and Commissions whose functions are outlined in this covenant pronouncement. All parish ministries and activities should be included within one of these Commissions.
The Commissions are: Administration and Finance, Education and Formation, Outreach, and Spiritual Life. Each Commission is formed from the members of the parish. The commissions do not have a limit on members.
The Council of Ministries is comprised of two members from each Commission, along with the Pastor.
The Council member's term of office is two years. Members may serve more than one non-consecutive term.
The Council of Ministries links committees, projects, and ministries so that everyone knows how each group fits into the larger community.
This model of parish leadership enhances and weaves the Parish together. Commissions accept the call to serve as leaders of the St. Joseph faith community. This is a shared responsibility with the Pastor and the Parish.
The Council of Ministries and Commissions exercise vision and long range planning for the parish by establishing goals and working with the Pastor.
The Pastor presides over the Council of Ministries. The Council of Ministries is composed of two members from each commission. The Council of Ministries assists in promoting pastoral action in the Parish. The Council of Ministries is a consultative body, pastoral in nature.
The Council of Ministries and the Commissions will meet the first Saturday of each month. The Council of Ministries will meet following the Commission meetings. The meetings will be an hour in length.
The chairperson and Secretary will be selected annually at the organizational meeting of the Council of Ministries. The Chairperson's responsibility is to chair the meeting. The Secretary will prepare the minutes of the meeting and distribute before the next meeting.
